Of those born outside the Nagpur district 30.62 per cent were born in other districts of the same natural division; 38.10 per cent in other parts of the State; 17.91 in adjacent States; 6.16 in other parts of India; 6.92 born beyond India (i.e., in Pakistan) and 0.29 born in other territories beyond India.

An analysis of the immigrants into the Nagpur district shows that the largest number is contributed by the adjoining districts of Wardha 33,791 9m. 13,082; ¦ . 20,709), Bhandara 24,748 (m. 9,485; ¦ . 15,263), Chindvada 16,652 9m. 7,373; ¦ . 9,279) and Canda 10,999 9m. 4,336; ¦ . 6,663), The four districts of Berar have contributed comparatively smaller number of migrants into the Nagpur district. The figures are as follows : -

Amravati 19,888 9 (m. 9,244; ¦ . 10,644), Yeotmal 6,376 (m. 3,000; ¦ . 3,376), Akola 5,297 (m. 1,955; ¦ . 3,342 ) and Buldhana 2,155 (m. 1,215; 940).

The casual nature of this migration is obvious from the preponderance of women amongst the migrants.
