Gajar Ka Halwa

Preparation Time: 20 minutes 

Cooking Time:1 hour 45 minutes.

Serves 6

   
Ingredients:
1 kg. carrots

1 liter milk

1 tin condensed milk

1/4 cup raisin

1/4 tsp. cardamom powder 1/4 cup of sugar if required

1/4 tbsp. almonds blanched and sliced

Method:

  1. Wash, scrape and grate the carrots. Put the grated carrots with milk in the pan of the cooker without the cooking plate and switch to 'cook mode'. Do not cover with the lid.
  2. After 30 minutes add condensed milk, raisin, cardamom powder and sugar. Stir occasionally.
  3. Cook for 60 more minutes and then add sliced almonds and pistachio nuts.
  4. Cook for 15 more minutes and then switch off. Garnish with almonds and pistachio nuts and serve with hot vanilla ice-cream.
Note:
Stir the halwa more frequently as it gets thicker to avoid burning at the base.
