| 250 gm. tuvar dal | 1 cup raw peanuts [peeled] | ||
| 30 gm. tamarind | ½ coconut | ||
| 2 green chillies | Some coriander leaves | ||
| ½ tsp. turmeric powder | ½ tsp. garam masala | ||
| 2 tsp. oil | ¼ tsp. mustard seeds | ||
| A pinch of asafoetida | 1 tbsp. jaggery [syrup] | ||
| 1/3 tsp. salt | ¼ tsp. red chili powder | ||
| To prepare garam masala: | |||
| Grind a mixture of cloves, cardamom, cinnamon nutmeg and mace. | |||
